Buildup Progress Page
Well, I have finally gotten around to starting my buildup on my truck. I am going to be doing an SAS to this truck using AllPro 4" fronts. For the drive train, I will be going with a 7M from the wife's Cressida, which she was nice enough to put in the ditch last winter, with dual cases using an AA crawler kit. For the rear, I am going with a 4-link. And for the body, I have a good 86 regular cab body that I will be using.
The main purpose for this project is to build a well rounded truck that can take some pretty serious wheeling but also be tame to drive on the street and take the wife and kids camping but also on a budget. If you have any questions or comments feel free to e-mail me. Enjoy!!

Here is what I am starting with:
Fuel and Brake line pictures for reference when it goes back together:
Here is the IFS torched off:
Parts I ordered from AllPro:
Here is the frame cleaned and motor mounts boxed:
Here is the donor front axle:
Springs getting hung:
Axle cleaned and in truck (still need to rebuild the knuckles), Check out the u-bolt plates and custom semi-round u-bolts on the drivers side
The DriveLine starts to be put together: (In one pic you can see the trick of putting the crawler box output shaft in the freezer to get the bearing to slide on it easier and the W58 Bellhousing from a 84 supra)
The 7MGE comes out of the donor car: (These pics are mainly for my reference to remember where all the vacume and electrical connections where)
The 7MGE goes in the frame: (just for test fitting, still need to make a x-member, cut off old x-member and paint front of frame), pay special attention to the driveline angle and height difference from the stock 22RE, stock drive train angle is ~4 Deg.
Transfer Case X-Member built and front of frame painted: (X-member is made out of 1 3/8" DOM with 1 1/8" inner diam, using stock rear leaf bushings, 1/4" hangers, and grade 8 bolts)
The 7M wiring harness: I'm Scared :)
Here is the ProTools 105HD bender I purchased.
This is the completed SAS with rebuild knuckles. Still need fj40 rotors and sky adapters to finish
Here is the 4-Link being tacked into place, specs are: Lower links 2" .375 wall DOM, uppers 1.5" .25 Wall Dom, Joints are Summit Machine Cartridge Joints, x-member is made out of 3" .25 wall square tubing and 1/4 plate at the frame.
Here is the 4-Link Calculator filled out to the specs of my 4-link as it is being mocked up:
Here is the 4-link mocked into place. It ended up being adjustable from 73% to 113% AS.
Here is the Frame mount boxed, welded and painted.
Here is the Completed 4-link. Still have to finish the upper coil spring mounts.
Here is the coils mounted. Also finished installing the center sump oil pump and redrilling the dipstick tube on the 7M as well as getting the 7M ready for the body to be dropped onto the chassis.
Here the rest of the chasis is completed enough to get the body on. I will need a 1.5" BL to clear the 7M.
It runs!! Here is a short video-Right Click/Save as
Here the 7M wiring complete and computer mounted as well as the fuel lines and tank mounted. Tank is from a 90 Cressida
Finnaly got some more work done, FJ40 Rotors and Sky spacers, Rad mounted, PS working, Exhaust started, Front brake lines run, Shocks and Sky shock hoops done.
Rather than maintain a build page in two places, for now go to the Pirate4x4 thread for the rest of the build.
